About EvaI am a Monterey based artist with a dynamic professional background that includes outdoor educator, adventure guide, illustrator, graphic designer, and travel writer.
I graduated from Evergreen State College in BA in Visual Art and Environmental Anthropology. Images and art making are about story telling and honoring a subject or theme. It takes the gift of attention and time to capture an internal landscape or emotion. For me, raw mediums like charcoal, pastel, and graphite help me to honor elements of nature, an unusual heroine, a bypassed detail. It's a medium that covers my fingers, hands and, at times, face. Beginnings and endings, erasure and renewal happen many times on the same drawing. For me, it's an critical process of emergence. Graphite has always been my favorite. It is the base knowledge I bring to art and my most comfortable medium. My favorite thing to see in a museum, gallery or social media is the artist's sketchbook where, usually in graphite form, the imagining begins. Freelance/Contract Work:
